Banerigg House is beautifully situated overlooking Grasmere lake and the local fells and has been our family home for 37 years. What started out as a five year plan, a ‘stop gap’ between jobs, turned into a way of life. We didn’t intend to stay here this long but to be truthful we have never found anywhere else we would rather be.
We offer comfortable accommodation with a delicious breakfast…….but more than that we welcome people into our home and treat them as part of our family for the duration of their stay.

We screen a free entry film night most Saturdays throughout the year. All films are shown in our bar / dining room on a 4.5m screen. Where possible films will be BluRay format.
Typically we show a mix of recent popular films, international films, independent films, children’s films and occasional classics.
We have also been working with the Wordsworth Trust and other organisations to host thematic films that relate to their artistic programme.
We may occasionally promote paid film deals, these could include, discussions, food and drinks.
We also programme genre specific events and we are open to new ideas! We are also interested in experimenting with some outdoor screenings.

Alan and Lesley began The Good Bag Co in 2006 after seeing so many plastic bags available and damaging the environment and wildlife. They decided to create an alternative which would be practical and enjoyable to use.
Our standard good bags are lined inside, to make them water resistant. And what’s more, they’re made from entirely environmentally friendly jute – which means that as well as not using plastic shopping bags, no pesticides are used either!
